Is there a difference in reader response to books as opposed to zines?
It takes readers longer to respond to books, cuz there's more pages to get through. No, seriously... Our book gets into places where zines don't get, so we get a lot more variety of response I think.

How do you decide the price of your books?
It's basically something like this:
total cost of printing + total cost of layout and prep + total royalties if all books sell + total cost of promotions = xx divided by the total number of books printed = our cost per book. Then our cost per book should be somewhere around half of what we get from
distributors for a copy of the book, which is 45% of cover price. SO you can basically figure out what our costs were on a $10 book by multiplying 10 by .45 = $4.50. then you divide $4.50 by 2, and see that our
cost is about $2.25- 2.50 per book. Simple, really.

What goes into choosing a cover? Back cover blurb?
It's a complex process that involves name calling and wrestling.

What's your editing/refining process?
We give stuff to a bunch of people to read and then ask them what they didn't like ir didn't understand. then we change stuff, then we do it again, until everyone likes and understands everything. That's why our books are so much like Bruce Willis movies.

How much did it cost? How did you raise the money to publish?
The first print run of Tales was 500 copies and it cost us about $2000. Then we sold those, and used the money to print 4000 copies. Then we sold those, and used the money to print 10,000 copies. Then we put in our savings, and printed 10,000 copies of Gynomite. And now we have $800 in the bank and shit loads of books. Wanna buy 100 copies of "Gynomite: Fearless,
Feminist Porn?" We'll throw in some goodies... come on...

Why aren't more women self-publishing books?
Sexism.
