Date of birth?
March 30, 1978.

What was the quantity of your print run(s) + how much did it work out per book?
100 books, total $585.00 (with tax), $5.85 per book.

If it doesn't say on the book, what did you sell your book for?
$10.

Why aren't there any women self-publishing books?
There are! I helped my friend Jenny Ryan through the process, and there's always the cases of Virginia Woolf and Gertrude Stein who both self-published many of their books.

What inspired you to make a book?
I figured that instead of sending out a bunch of manuscripts to places, I might as well print up a small run of books that would look a lot nicer, and cost not too much more to make. It also adds a legitimacy to what I'm doing as a writer...gives me a goal to work towards. I'm a firmly believe that the author should be involved in the process of creating the book in all aspects as well...I did the typesetting and cover myself as well as writing.

What did you do to promote it?
I barely did at all, sent it to a few distributors in the states, which I wouldn't recommend unless you really think your book has a power with the mainstream US market. I sent one to Broken Pencil too, maybe there will be a review in the next issue. With the remaining books I plan to send one to Marginal Distribution, and Insomniac. The nice thing about finding a place like M&T that does small print runs pretty cheap is that if I need a hundred more, I can just call them up and get a hundred more.

What would you do differently, and why?
Get more people to edit it. I'm happy overall in how the book is, but there are things on revisiting it that I might change now...and I can always do that for the second hundred (if there ever is a second hundred).
