Ryan, a shy, caffeine-addicted university student, can
turn into a fly. Cassandra, a waitress at a greasy spoon,
can make things disappear. They were made for each other
. . . and to battle the forces of evil! Inspired by
Sailor Moon, Flyboy and Ms. Place take on the villains
who inhabit their world: cigarette barons, redneck tabloid
newspapers, and the patriarchy.
"Jim
Munroe has written the first novel to harness the energy,
idealism and cartoon inspired playfulness of the new
wave of culture jammers. It's about time we have some
superheroes to save us after the post-irony meltdown
-- forces of corporate darkness, beware." -Naomi
Klein, No Logo
"Wonderfully
written.
A debut notable for the spectacular insouciance
of its dialogue and an unstoppable, fearless, herky-jerky
flow of inventive humor. Munroe masterfully carries
off his admittedly weird conceits, suspends our disbelief,
and gives us nothing but delight in his imagination."

As
a person who has always borrowed books and taped music,
I love to get and give out stuff for free if it doesn't
cost me anything. Over 5000 people downloaded Angry
Young Spaceman from my site, and even though it sold
better in the stores than Flyboy, a lot of people assumed
that this meant that I lost sales.
I
suspect that it was more than made up by the word-of-mouth
and media attention the free e-book generated. But to
put this to the test, I've decided to not make an e-book
of my new novel, and see how that affects the sales.
Instead,
I'm releasing an e-book of Flyboy. This book came out
in 1999 with HarperCollins, and I've recently regained
the rights to it. I may eventually do a reprint of it
and take the e-book off the site, so grab it while you
can! If you've read it and liked it, feel free to pass
this URL on to a friend.
